S ister Jose P h > w ho is ta charge of the Government leprosy hospital at Tetere, on Guadalcanal, in the British Solomon Islands, have arJived in Christchurch after a visit to the Chatham Islands. Mother Basil, an American, is visitmg sisters of the society in New Ze** Bo !*- As Regional Superior for Australia and New Zealand, Mother Basil has her headquarters at Killara, New South Wales. While in the Chatham Islands, she visited four sisters of the order who are nurses in the hospital there. went to Makogai in 1941, but during the war was stationed tn Sydney, There was no leprosy hospital at Tetere until 1949 Now there are 100 resident patients in the hospital, which •Iso has many out-patients. Three Meters manage the hospital.
