The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. -Wellington, and dealing with the hours following the time of issue. Situation: a complex depression covers New Zealand. Forecast: moderate to fresh southerly winds; weather overcast and cold, with rain and some snow to low levels on the hills. Outlook: occasional showers. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Overcast with periods of rain, but improving in the south later in the day; cool temperatures. Outlook: fair.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The day in Christchurch yesterday was Cercast, with a light to moderate southst wind and a maximum temperaturd •f 47.9 degrees. At midnight the sky was overcast, and there was a light south-west wind. The temperature was 42.8 degrees. The barometer, at 29.656 inches (1004.2 millibars), was rising slowly.
