ARMS PRODUCED BY CZECHS
“Arsenal Of People’s Democracies” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 18. Czechoslovak factories are producing, under Soviet supervision, the latest jet fighters, Soviet type tanks, famous Soviet rocket artillery, and other newer and more powerful weapons, according to reports reaching Vienna, says a Reuter correspondent in Austria. Reports indicate that Czechoslovakia is fast becoming the great arsenal of the people’s democracies, and that arms made in Czech factories have been traced to Communist China. North Korea, Indo-China and other modern battlefields. The correspondent refers to a statement by the Czech Defence Minister exe J Cepicka) that the weapons which Czech industry is producing far surpass, any which the “capitalistic countries” are producing or can produce, and states: “Czechoslovakia’s role as an arsenal is not new. Already between two world wars, the Skoda works became a great arsenal for Jugoslavia, Rumania and Czechoslovakia, and the Nazis both expanded this industry and forced it to work for them.
