Signing Of Balkan Pact Delayed
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11 p.m.) ATHENS, July 16. The Greek Prime Minister (Field-Marshal Papagos) has asked Turkey and Jugoslavia to agree to a date for the signing, of the military alliance among the three countries. In telegrams to the President of Jugoslavia (Marshal Tito) and the Turkish Prinie Minister (Mr A. Menderes), Field-Marshal Papagos expressed disappointment at the postponement of the talks among the Foreign Ministers of the three countries, which were due to begin today. The talks were to have ended with the signing of the military alliance, initialled last week in Athens after talks lasting a week.
