PEACE TALKS AT GENEVA
Soviet Attitude Stiffens I (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 12-3(1 a.m.) GENEVA, July 16. The French Prime Minister (Mr Pierre MendesFrance) nas called a “strategy” meeting of his advisers |n Geneva today to discuss an unexpected stiffening of fee Soviet delegation’s attitude on Indo-China. The Russians, who have shown growing cordiality during ke last few days, showed the first signs of “cooling off” in Li official Tass news agency statement last night accusing far Dulles of trying to “torpedo” the Indo-China peace talks to his Paris discussions with Mr Eden and Mr Mendes-France. Then, after a meeting with Mr Molotov lasting four and L half hours, Mr Mendes-France emerged unsmiling to announce: “No progress.”
