VICE REGAL VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH
The Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) and Lady Norrie will arrive in Christchurch on Saturday, July 24, on a four-day visit to the city. They will stay at the Clarendon Hotel. Sir Willoughby Norrie will attend the Christchurch Tin Hat Club's tattoo on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning their Excellencies will attend matins at St. Mary’s Church, Merivale. The service will be conducted by the Archdeacon of Christchurch (the Ven. W. W. Averill), who will preach the sermon, arid it is expected that Sir Willoughby Norrie will read the lessons. Their Excellencies will inspect St. George’s Hospital on Monday, July 26, in the morning, where th'ey will be received by Archdeacon Averill, who will deputise for the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) the hospital’s warden, Mr L. A. Bennett, deputy chairman of the executive, and the Lady Superintendent (Miss E. Kent-Johnstcn). A guard of honour will be formed bv nurses. In the evening. Sir Willoughby Norrie and Lady Norrie will be guests of honour at a 5 o’clock narty to be held by the Christchurch branches of the combined Emnire societies Later on Monday night. Sir Willoughby Norrie will visit H.M.N ZS. Pegasus, the headquarters of the Canterbury division of the Royal New .Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve.
