N.A.C. CHAIRMAN REPLIES TO “THE PRESS” (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 15. The chairman of directors of the National Airways Corporation and of Tasman Empire Ltd. (Sir Leonard Isitt), commenting today on the leading article in “The Press” of July 7—“Onakea or Else”—said:— “The only comment I have to make is that the whole question of satisfactory connecting services between the North Island and Christchurch is under very active consideration, and that at no time have I said—either ‘coldly’ or otherwise—that the present schedule of N.A.C. services would have to serve.
T.E.A.L. at present has officers in Sydney discussing with various interested controlling authorities in that country the times of arrival and deSarture to and from Sydney and Melourne, and until the final pattern of services to and from Australia is determined N.A.C. cannot make final schedules for its connecting aircraft.”
