PACIFIC WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION
RETIRING SECRETARY HONOURED “It is nice to be at a purely social gathering and not have to take the minutes,” said Mrs K. McCreanor when she was the guest of honour at a very gleasant informal tea party held at the anterbury Women’s Club yesterday morning. Mrs McCreanor has been secretary of the Christchurch section of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association for some years, and has now resigned from that position. The gathering yesterday was arranged by the section to show its appreciation of her outstanding work. The president (Miss M. G. Havelaar) recalled Mrs McCreanor’s loyalty and devotion to duty at the time that the Pan-Pacific conference was held in Christchurch in 1952. “That was considered one of the most successful conferences the association has held,” she said, “and its success was in great measure due to Mrs Creanor’s ability and hard work, for months before the conference. Later, Miss Havelaar said, Mrs McCreanor had continued to further the aims of the association, and had attended the monthly meetings regularly. On behalf of members, she presented Mrs McCreanor with a shoulder spray and a book-token. Mrs McCreanor, in acknowledging the gifts, said her interest in the association was undiminished, and she would continue to be a member, though not holding an official position. She had greatly enjoyed her connexion with members, and had been gratified at the success of the conference in Christchurch.
