ESSEX TOURNEY N.Z. PLAYERS REACH SEMI-FINALS (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 14. The New Zealanders, J. A. Barry and J. E. Robson, reached the semi-finals of the men’s singles in the Essex lawn tennis championships at Frinton on Sea today. Barry beat E. Soriano (Argentine), 7-5, 6-0, and Robson beat W. T. Anderson (Britain), 6-1, 6-0. Another New Zealander, M. A. Otway, was eliminated by H. J. Etchart, of Argentina, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. In the women’s singles. Miss J. F. Burke (New Zealand) reached the semi-finals, — beating Mrs W. F. Byrne (Britain), 6-0, 6-3. Miss J. A. Shilcock eliminated Australia’s Miss E. E. Ruffin, 6-3, 6-3.
