F. VAN DONCK WINS WITH 275 (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PARIS, July 14. Flory van Donck, of Belgium, today won the French open golf championship at St. Cloud with an aggregate of 275. He beat the Australian, Norman von Nida, and Aldo Casera, of Italy, by one stroke. Van Donck’s rounds were 66, 70. 68, 71. Max Faulkner, of Britain, and Adolfo Angelini, of Italy, shared fourth place with 277. Next came two British golfers, Ken Bousfield and Harry Weetman, with 278.
TASMAN CUP MATCH N.Z. TEAM TO LEAVE FOR AUSTRALIA TODAY (New Zealand Press Associatic..j AUCKLAND, July 15. The New’ Zealand women’s golf team, of five players and a manager, will leave Auckland tomorrow for Brisbane. There they will atte: ipt to win back the Tasman Cup, which Australia has held since 1948. The match will be played at the Yeerongpilly course on July 31, the day after the completion of the Australian cham--1 pionships, in which the New Zealanders will take part. The two most experienced golfers in the New Zealand team, which assembled in Auckland today, are Auckland’s Mrs R. Purdon (formerly Margaret Hughes) and Miss Doreen Blundell (Mount Maunganui). Both have represented this country in England and Australia, and appear to have the best chances of success in the Australian championship. Of the other three members, Miss Aileen Nash (Manawatu) represented New Zealand against Australia at Wanganui last year. The newcomers are Mrs H. C. McDiarmid (Hamilton) and Miss Catherine Collier (Manawatu).
