Stowaways Imprisoned.—John McBride, a ship’s cook, aged 25, and Jack Moore, a ship’s cook and steward, aged 19, pleaded guilty before Mr Rex C. Abernethy, S.M., in the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday to charges of stowing away in the ship Kaitoke from Sydney to Lyttelton. They were convicted, each was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. SeniorSergeant J. L. Graham said that the men were discovered on board the Kaitoke 36 hours after leaving Sydney. Mcßride deserted from the liner Orontes in June, and Moore had deserted from the Waiwera in Australia in March. Neither had any money when arrested.
