JUGOSLAVS SAIL TO U.S.
Refused Entry On Arrival (Rec. 12.10 a.m.) MIAMI, July 13. Eleven Jugoslav refugees who crossed the Atlantic in a 60ft boat were refused entry to the United States today by immigration officials. Mr William Owens, special inquiry officer for the Immigration Service, ruled after a three-hour meeting, that the eight adults and three children must be excluded on the ground that they did not nave proper documents. Mr David Walters, a lawyer, said he would file an appeal for a special hearing in Washington and seek an act of Congress to permit the refugees to remain permanently. Meanwhile, they would be permitted to live in Miami under a bond.
Mr Walters said all the persons aboard the ship were devout Roman Catholics who fled the political realm of Marshal Tito because of religious and political oppression. They arrived last night.
