CHICAGO. July 11. The police said today that Joe Laroe was not dropped down the Chicago Yacht Club chimney by four robbers, as he at first claimed. Instead—the police quoted him as saying from his hospital bed today he was trying to slither down to rob the club when he became stuck Laroe, aged 21. was chopped out from the base of the chimney early on Friday after a motorist heard his smothered screams for help..
