S ‘? te Department spokesman said that the United States Government was deeply concerned about IndoChina, but the feeling was that no real progress would result from sending the Secretary of State or his deputy, Mr Walter Bedell Smith, to Geneva, as France and Britain wished. . S, Whited- Press said it appeared that Mr Dulles was waiting first to see w hat kind of reports were submitted by the French and Communist military representatives who have been trying to work out an armistice. With that information in hand Mr Dulles could decide whether he or Mr Smith should return.
