COST OF LIVING

Sir, —“The Press” of July; 10 contains a news item regarding the cost of meat in London. The housewives there forced the price down by a determined boycott and their action has reduced the price of meat to the lowest for 10 years. In view of the high cost of living in New Zealand, could not the women of this country take similar action? It has been proved in England that the remedy lies with the housewives. Concerted action by the women would be far more effective in lowering prices than would governmental control. —Yours, MRS MOPS. July 12, 1954.
