LAND’S END TO JOHN O’GROATS BY CYCLE WOMAN SETS RECORD (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, July 11. Mrs Eileen Sheridan, aged 32, an Isleworth, Middlesex, housewife, reached John o’Groats tonight, having cycled 872 miles from Land’s End in 59hr 7min, setting up a new national record for the “End to End,” one of the classic cycle records. Her time beats the previous professional best set up by Miss Wilson in 1939 by Uhr 45min, and beat the amateur best set up by Mrs Atkins in 1953, by 6hr 57min. Mrs Sheridan went through the two days and a half trip with only Ihr 50mln to rest, taken in three periods. On arrival at John o’Groats, she said: “I am glad that’s over, but after a couple of hours’ sleep I hope to carry on and beat tho MX» aaMsc scon*”
