THEATRICAL COMPANY’S ESSAY COMPETITION

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 12. The successful entrants in the essay competition sponsored by the New Zealand Players in conjunction with their present production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” are:— Senior.—V. Wake (Wanganui Girls’ College) and Heather Scott (New Plymouth Girls’ High School) (equal) 1, David Garrett (Auckland Grammar School) 3, Vida Maclean (New Plymouth Girls’ High School) special mention. Junior.—Angela Spears (St. Margaret’s College, Christchurch) 1, Lesley Aderman (New Plymouth Girls’ High School) 2, Josephine Hawke (Sacred Heart Convent, Remuera) 3. The entrants were given the choice of writing on impressions of a character in the production, the difference between going to a film and going to a play, or a performance of the play at the Globe Theatre, London. The winners will receive cash prizes or concession tickets.
