23,000 PLAYERS IN NEW ZEALAND CANTERBURY LEADING DISTRICT ft New Zealand’s 306 golf clubs had B total of 23,803 members in April, 1953, according to statistics received by ths management committee of the Canter* bury Provincial Golf Association at iti meeting last evening, from the New Zealand Golf Association. Of these. 7020 were members of South Island clubs. The Canterbury district had 3395 players, and Auckland came next with The committee Appointed Mf H. M. S. Dawson and E. A. Dawson, members of a sub-committee to consider the revision of the association’s rules. '■ Permission was granted for holding the open junior tournament at the Tai Tapu golf course on August 1. At the suggestion of Mr A. R. Blank, it was decided that October 17 should be the tentative date for the assembly of players in the Woodward and Blank Cup competitions. The 170 pJayen could be accommodated at the Waith kiri course if foursomes were played. Mr Blank will report to the committal on the availability of the course oa this date. • T® I
