SERVICE FOR AIR PASSENGERS
CHRISTCHURCH FIRM’S PLAN next Tuesday, when the pc-6s begin to run on the air services between Christchurch and Australia, passengers passing through the overseas air terminal at Harewood will be given an extra service. A Christchurch drapery firm is to have a woman representative on hand to help passengers in any way that she can. She may help those who wish to dispatch a telegram or cable and she may even help them solve their laundry problems.
The firm is one of two in Christchurch which will show their wares to the air travellers. The Civil Aviation Administration recently called tenders for space in the terminal building. Only two firms applied, and these have been allotted the only space available. Both firms will have static show cases. One of the cases is situated inside the entrance to the terminal building, and the other in the passengers’ waiting room. They have been finished in attractive stained plywood.
The woman will have a small office where she can interview passengers, and she will offer souvenirs to outward passengers from a booth in the passengers’ waiting room.
