TOURNAMENT SYSTEM TO BE REVISED (New Zealand Press Association) A WELLINGTON. June 27. The system of conducting annual natkJJ?.al ’„ inter-provincial, and inter-club softball tournaments is to be revised. The council of the New Zealand Softball Association. at a meeting in Wellington yesterday, decided to ask associations for their views on the tournaments. z,.9^, the suggestion of Mr C. J. Pringle (Wellington), it was decided to send touring teams round the country, with different teams to tour the various provinces. The council also decided to try to make a first-class coach available to instruct South Island coaches, if this was welcomed in the South Island. A New Zealand-made bat, a two-piece glue-bonded mangaeo, was submitted to the meeting by a Rotorua enthusiast. A number of these bats will be tried in competition play next season. No action was taken in response to an invitation to join an international Softball Association, formed to obtain Olympic Games representation.
