WOMEN’S 880 YARDS WORLD RECORD (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BRISBANE, June 26. The 15-year-old Sydney swimmer, Lorraine Crapp, broke the women’s world record for 880 yards by B.2sec at Townsville last night. Her time was llmin o.4sec. The women's record is held by Ann Curtis (United States), who swam the distance in llmin B.Gsec in 1944. Miss Crapp’s time will be claimed as a new world record. The Australian champion, Garry Chap-

man, broke the national record for 1650 yards by 3-ssec when he was timed at 19min 24 4-ssec. Miss Crapp and Chapman are members of the Australian Empire Games swimming team.
