After the presentation of “A MidSiimmer Nights Dream” by toe New ■ Zealand Players last eveiing, members • of toe company were the guests erf the New Zealand Players’ Foundation at a supper party held in toe foyer of ■ me Theatre Royal Mr M. Walker, chairman of toe : Christchurch committee erf the founda- . tio-n, welcomed members of toe comi pany and mentioned that the party i was somewhat in toe nature of a birthday celebratic-n. as the New Zes.- ' land Players staged their first performance in Wellington on May 8 last year. He outiined their activities since that ; date and congratulated them cn last night's performance. He was. he said, frequently asked what toe foundation ■ did. Its members, he explained.' helped ;in arranging billets for the younger , members of the company and for toe .present season had assisted with grear success in arrangements for toe school matinees this week. Mr Walker called attention to toe excellent display of posters on the waEs of the foyer. These were the work of school pupils who had been invited by the New Zealand Players ito enter a competition tor design for ■theatre, costumes, scenes, and posters. ' The number of entries had been large and Peter Campbell a pupil of Weli Lmgton College, gained first prize in i [all three sections. The second prize-, winner was Tony Bainbridge, of Ra-i ingjoja. The exhibition included the, • entrfes of the prize-winner* and the: :24 next best entries. Mr Raymond Boyce, designer for the! :company, and Mr John Gordon thanked: : toe committee for its practical inter-1' est and its hospitality.
