UNIVERSITY CONTEST THIS WEEK (New Zealand. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 15. New Zealand’s six university colleges, on Friday evening and ,Saturday afternoon of this week, will compete for the Jovnt Scroll in debating. It will be the first time that the contest has been held in Wellington since 1947, and the first time that it has been held under the new rules whereby each college debates twice (negative and affirmative), compared with once In the past. A team of two New Zealand debaters will tour Australia in August. The team will attend the university de-? bating festival from August 16 to 23 at Perth, where the team will debate against the University of Western Australia and an Australian team.

The “ashes" are at present held by Australia, which beat New Zealand at Wellington in a three-man debate in 1948. Tnis was the last Inter-Dominion contest held.
