FORMER DIRECTOR OF REHABILITATION

WORK PRAISED BY R.S.A. (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 15. Prolonged applause and musical honours greeted Mr F. Baker, who recently retired from the post of Director of Rehabilitation, when he stepped forward at the annual conference of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association today to receive an illuminated address from the president (Sir Howard Kippenberger).

The address expressed the deep appreciation of former servicemen for the outstanding service given by Mr Baker in his 10 years as Director of Rehabilitation, from the creation of that office in 1943.

Mr Baker, expressing his thanks, said the success of rehabilitation in New Zealand had been, possible only because of luck in the appointment of two good Ministers of Rehabilitation and the full co-operation of everybody concerned in carrying out the scheme.
