NEW THREAT BY RHEE

(Rec. 8 p.mJ SEOUL, June 12. Dr. Syngman Rhee, the South Korean President, said today that force was the only means to unify Korea and that when the time came. South Korea would march north under the command of General Sun Yup Paik, commander of the First Army. Dr. Rhee was addressing an audience of 1000 farmers officially resettled today in their homes between the 38th Parallel and the cease-fire line.

He said General Paik had pledged to lead the South Korean armed forces to occupy the North Korean capital of Pyongyang only if he was ordered to. “I willingly give him my 0.K.,” Dr. Rhee added. He did not elaborate on when he would order the march north.
