COUNTY COUNCILS’ QUALIFICATION County qualified for subsidy from the National Roads Board on their general rates and on special, ratej levied for roading purposes, but not on rates levied for such bodies as hospital boards, said Mr W. F. Young, deputy-chairman of the board. Mr Young was asked to comment on a reported statement of Mr F. W. Walter, chairman of the Waimairi County Council, that the county would benefit from the increased subsidy allocated on the basi%of general rates, and that because of this, and in keeping with the practice adopted by other counties, the general county rates and levies would be consolidated.
