FIJIAN TOUR OF AUSTRALIA
RIVERINA BEATEN, 29-6 (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 13. The Fijian Rugby Union team beat Riverina, at Wagga, yesterday by 29 points to 6 after a half-time score of 16-6. The first half was fairly even, but In the second half, although Riverina won most of the scrums, bad handling caused good attacking movements to fail. Fiji played more orthodox football than usual, but still used long, pitch passes. NORTH CANTERBURY SUB-UNION The following is the draw for matches to be played in the North Canterbury Sub-Union’s competitions on Saturday: Senior.—Oh. v. Ko. (Mr Pulley); Am. v. Wo. NORTH CANTERBURY BEATS MALVERN In an inter-sub-union representative match played at Oxford on Saturday, North Canterbury beat Malvern by 16 points to nil. In a junior representative match Malvern beat North Canterbury by 3\ points to nil. HURUNUI SUB-UNION Results of matches in /he Hurunui Rugby Sub-Union’s competitions on Saturday were;— Senior.—Culverden 3, United 0; Kaikoura 8, Waiau 8; Cheviot, bye. Junior.—United 16, Culverden 8; Cheviot A 11. Cheviot B 0; Kaikoura won by default from Waiau. BANKS PENINSULA SUB-UNION Akaroa beat Little River by 14 points to nil in the Banks Peninsula Rugby SubUnion’s competition at Little River on Saturday, thereby assuring the championshin for the second season in succession. For Akaroa. tries were scored by J. Truman, G. Moore, N,. Choat, and O. Harrington, and L. Langrope converted one.
