EMPIRE GAMES BROADCASTS
TRANSMISSIONS TO N.Z. (New Zealand. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 19. Special broadcasts of the Empire Games in Vancouver are to be heard in New Zealand from July 31 to August 8. The broadcasts are to occupy an hour each night, from 7 o’clock to 8 o’clock. Advice of this has been received with the first draft of the proposed broadcasts, by an Invercargill observer of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Montreal, The draft shows that transmissions for New Zealand and Australian listeners may be heard each day, except on Monday, August 2. The first half hour of the broadcast will cover results with Australian interest and the second New Zealand results.
Broadcasts will begin on Saturday, July 31, with recordings of the opening of the Empire Games on July 30. Sunday’s programme will give Saturday’s results, and there will be* a break on the Monday, as no events will be decided on the Sunday.
The broadcasts will be resumed on the Tuesday night and will continue until Sunday, August 8, when listeners will hear a recording of the ceremonies with which the Empire Games will close on Saturday, August 7.
