OWNER DISQUALIFIED FOR TWO YEARS
INQUIRY HELD AT NEW PLYMOUTH
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 10. An inquiry was held by the Taranaki District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference in New Plymouth last evening, into charges preferred by a racecourse inspector, Mr W. C. Ernest Bertie Candy, a farmer, of Kaponga. was disqualified for two years, and all horses owned and registered by him were disqualified, for 18 months. W. M. Fowler, a trainer, of Stratford, was severely reprimanded and fined £25. J. J. Commerford, a taxi-driver, of Eltham. was found not guilty. 'The charges related to the ownership of the horses Precious Lady and Vai’s Boy, which are registered in the name of Commerford.
Candy was charged with signing notices that he had bought the horses and had sold them to Commerford, when he had not done so.
Commerford was charged with signing a notice stating that he had bought the horses, when he had not done so.
Fowler was charged with giving false information to a racecouse inspector. On charges of entering horses in races knowing that they were disqualified, he was found not guilty.
