BELGIAN PROTEST TO SOVIET
Plane Shot Down By MIG 15 (Rec. 8 p.m.) BRUSSELS, June 9. The Belgian Foreign Ministry today announced that an investigation into the attack on the Belgian commercial aeroplane near the Austrian-Jugoslav border last week “proved that the attacking aeroplane was an MIG 15 bearing Russian markings.” The Belgian Ambassador to Moscow has been ordered to protest to the Soviet Government, and to demand the punishment of the pilot and compensation for the victims. The Belgian radio operator of the aeroplane, which was carrying pigs from Britain to Jugoslavia, was killed in the attack. Two other members of the crew were wounded.
