Favourites were beaten in seven of the eight races on the opening day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s winter meeting yesterday, and four winners paid substantial double-figure dividends. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance. The totalisator turnover was £66,165 10s, compared with £65,997 last year—an increase of £l6B 10s.
