( Rec. 8 pjtl) LONDON, June & J The bicentenary Commonwealth golf 1 tournament, at the Royal and Ancient ' Club at St Andrews, ended today with , an Australian victory. ~ ; In their final match the Australians : overwhelmed the South Africans by : 5 games to 2 with two halved to* J achieve the splendid record of three 1 wins and one halved match in the < tournament. , 7 Britain disappointed—losing to Canady by 5 games to 3 with one halved—after gaining a 2-0 lead with , one halved In the foursomes. . For Australia Doug. Bachil, who * last week won the British amateur i championship, retained his unbeaten s singles record by beating the former South African open champion. J. Singles.—Micklem lost to McElroy, 2<ind 1; Blair lost to Doe, 2 and 1; Caldwell lost to Farley, 1 down; Wilson lost to Weslock, 4 and 3; Thirl well lost to Silverberg, 1 down; Deighton beat Fleming, 4 and 2.
