SUBSIDIES ON EXPORTS
BRITISH-GERMAN STATEMENT
(Rec. 10 p.m.) BONN, June 5. The Governments of Britain and West Germany have agreed that export subsidies falsified the natural condition of competition and should be abolished “as soon as possible,” according to a joint British-German statement, issued today. Britain’s exporters will be on a more equal footing with German competitors abroad at the end of next year when, according to the statement, West Germany' will drop its present scheme of tax reliefs for exporters. The statement followed talks between Mr Richard Butler, the British Chancellor of the Exchequer and Professor Ludwig Erhard, the West German Economics Minister.
