Pearl Barlev Imports.— Notice is given in the Gazette of the withdrawal of the exception from import licensing of pearl barley. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr J. T. Watts), commenting on the notice, said that the action was designed to safeguard the interests of New Zealand producers. The decision had been taken on the recommendation of the Board of Trade, whi n h had closely investigated the position.—(P.A.)
