About 1300 men of the three services will parade in Hagley Park on Monday morning in honour of the Queen’s Birthday. They will be inspected by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.), who will be accompanied by senior officers of each of the services. The Mayor will arrive on the parade ground at 10.30 ajn. He will be accompanied by Brigadier H. E. Gilbert, commander of the Southern Military District, Group Captain B. S. Nicholl, commanding officer at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station, Wigram. and Commander J. N. Allan, officer commanding H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus. The main features of the parade will be the inspection, march past, and Royal salute of 21 guns. The Mayor will give a short address. The Army contingent will consist of 900 or 1000 men of the thirteenth intake of compulsory military trainees who are now at Burnham. They will be commanded by Major A. Molineaux. Territorial units will not parade on this because training time was lost in parades during the Queen’s visit. The Royal New Zealand Ail- Force will have a wing of two squadrons—about 300 men—on parade. Commanding the Air Force unit will be Squadron Leader J. R. Clay don. In charge of No. 1 squadren will be Squadron Leader W. S. C. Watkins, and Flight Lieutenant E. E. Peters will command No. 2 squadron. The Navy will be represented by about 90 members of the Canterbury Division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve under Lieutenant-Commander J. M. F. Sandeman. There will be four bands in attendance—the pipe band of the Canterbury Division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, the band of the 3rd Armoured Regiment, and pipe and silver bands from Burnham. .
