AMERICAN BID FOR PASSENGER AIR SUPREMACY.—The first of the Boeing 707 jet airliners being towed from a hangar at Renton airfield, Washington State, for taxi-ing tests. The first flights are to be made this month. The aircraft is designed to carry as many as 130 passengers at a cruising speed of 550 miles an hour. When it goes into service it should be capable of crossing the United States non-stop in five hours and of flying from New York to London in seven hours.
