Hints Of Big Four Talks In Berlin

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. June 3. Communist correspondents in Geneva have been dropping hints in private conversation that Russia intends to call another Four-Power conference on European questions in Berlin, in October, according to the diplomatic correspondent in Geneva of the ' Daily Telegraph.” “This development is not unlikely. It would fit in with the present Russian policy of haying one big conference always leading to another,” savs the correspondent. “From the Communist point of view this policy has two main advantages—by continually placing something to look forward to a little farther along the road, they hope with good reason to postpone action on such matters as the European Defence Community, and judging from the results at Geneva so far they may feel that big conferences tend to exacerbate the differences among the Western Allies,” says the correspondent.
