Mr C. S. Thompson, a former chairman of the Canterbury Education Board, returned to Christchurch by air from Australia yesterday after a holiday visit. Mr L. G. Holder, who has been called to the bar of the Middle Temple, London, returned to Christchurch yesterday.

Mr. J. H. Moore, who died recently, had been a member of the Heathcote County Council tor 21 years and was an energetic representative of his riding, said the chairman of the council <Mr F. W. Freeman) at a meeting last evening. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr Moore was passed.
