DUEL SOLD FOR 1250GNS
A. C. MESSERVY TO BE TRAINER
Duel, a two-year-old chestnut gelding by the leading sire of two-year-olds, Faux Tirage, from the imported mare, Clandestine, was bought yesterday for 1250 guineas by Mr W. Milner, a cartage contractor, of Sockburn, as agent.
Duel was offered by Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd., Christchurch,
on account of the estates of Sir Arthur Donnelly and Mr D. E. Wanklyn, at a special auction sale at the Inglewood Stud, Kaiapoi. The gelding is to be taken by the jockey, A. C. Messervy, of Masterton, who is a son-in-law of Mr Milner. This will be Messervy’s first venture as a trainer.
