PROPOSAL TO CLOSE ROADS TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. PURSUANT to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations, 1949, Notice is hereby given that *the Rangiora County Council, for the purpose of permittitng the Canterbury Auto Cycle Club to run its Grand Prix Races, proposes, subject to the approval of the Minister of Transport, to close the following roads to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated hereunder. During the periods of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic, which would otherwise use the roads:— A permit will be issued to any essential user of the roads to use a vehicle on the roads during the periods of closure. Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his objection and grounds thereof in writing, before Friday, April 2. 1954, at the office of the Council, Woodend road, Rangiora. The roads proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic are portions of Terrace road, Stoke School road, Catherwood’s road, and Davis road, located at Cust, and known as the Grand Prix course, together with one half-mile of all roads giving access thereto.

The periods of proposed closure are Saturday, April 17 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday, April 19, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., with an interval for lunch. S. G. PUBLIC NOTICE 19 HEREBY GIVEN that the Waimairi County Council at a Special Meeting convened for the purpose and held in the Council Chambers, Papanui, on March 18, 1954, RESOLVED by way of Special Resolution: That in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act, 1920, the Health Act,- 1920, and the amendments thereto, the Waimairi County Council hereby makes a By-law, the short title of which is “The Waimairi County By-law, 1954 (No. 2),” the object and purport of such By-law being as follows: To revoke Clause 243 of the Waimairi County By-law, 1934, and to substitute therefor a clause defining a distance which horses, cows, and other cattle must be kept from buildings used for human habitation, and stating the condition in which the land on which the horses, cows, and other cattle are kept, must be maintained. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the said Resolution will he submitted to an Ordinary Meeting of the Waimairi County Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Papanui, on Thursday, April 22, 1954, at 7.15 p.m., for confirmation as a Special Order and to fix the date on which such By-law shall come into force, the proposed date being May 1, 1954.
