BUSY “808-A-JOB WEEK ” “The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, March 24. Casual employment is scarce in the tiny Northland settlement of Tangiteroria since 10-year-old Graeme Clarke, a wolf cub in the Lone Scout organisation, played his part in the recent “Bob-a-Job Week.”

This is what he did: cleaned a hen run; cut and sold .blackboard pointers to the local school staff; dumped rubbish; found a missing cow (in 20 minutes); picked fruit; swept paths ana yards; scraped paint off windows; harvested potatoes; collected pine cones; delivered papers; clipped a hedge: bailed out a well; cleaned a drain; delivered milk; mowed lawns; cleaned windows; and collected and sola bottles.

When the official job sheets were being distributed from .headquarters, Graeme was overlooked. But this did not deter him; he made his own from the end of a breakfast cereal packet Twenty-three employers signed the home-made job sheets. • Altogether he earned £4 10s for his movement. A special letter- of commendation has been sent to this “one-man labour battalion” from the county commissioner in Auckland (Mr J. Cormick). Of me money he raised, 2s will go to the Dominion headquarters, Is to the county, and £4 7s to the lone scout fund. .
