FERTILISER WORKS DISPUTE

BURNSIDE MEN SEEK HIGHER PAY

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 24.

After a stop-work meeting lasting about an hour, workers at Kempthorne Prosser’s fertiliser works at Burnside today decided to do no more overtime until an , agreement is reached with the management on the payment of 3d an hour extra. A spokesman for the employees said the dispute arose when it became known that workers in the Hornby works of the company were receviing 3d an hour more than local men. Between 30 and 40 men are involved, most of them doing 3 hours 20 minutes overtime each night as well as some Saturday and Sunday work. It is believed orders are heavy at the moment, and this move will have a marked effect on production.
