MISS M. ROE BREAKS 100 YARDS RECORD (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 24. Miss Marion Roe, of Waikato, clipped 2sec from her Dominion 100 yards record of 61.9 sec in the tepid baths tonight. She failed by .7sec to beat her 110 yards record of 67.8 sec.
The New Zealand 440 yards freestyle champion, Miss Winifred Griffin, of Auckland, in a time trial over the quartermile, was timed at smin 31.3 sec, which was 3sec better than her former national record, but 2.9 sec outside Miss Roe’s Dominion record. SHIRLEY CLUB The closing carnival of the Shirley Swimming Club was held on Saturday. There was a large attendance. Results were as follows: Learners’ Width.—Girls under 10: V. Hustin 1, A.
