RETAILERS’ FEDERATION ELECTS OFFICERS
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 24. Mr D. A. Smith, of Wellington, was Installed as president of the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation at the final session of the federation’s conference at the Chateau Tongariro tonight. Mr W. J. Court, of Whangarei, and Mr G. F. Davies, of Timaru, were elected Vice-presidents. The following were elected members ©f the advisory board:—Messrs J. W. Yates, A. L. George, C. E. Harrison, •T. F. Living, D. A. Smith, and S. L. Moses, all of Wellington. The conference passed an Otago remit that representations should toe made to the Associated Banks to seek the abolition of the closed holiday for banks on the day after Boxing Day. An Auckland remit that the Government oe urged to remove anomalies at present applying to sales tax was carried.
