Mr R. P. Woodward, who has been assistant manager of the Christchurch branch of the National Bank of New Zealand. Ltd., for the last three vears, has been promoted t o the position of an inspector at the bank’s head office in Wellington. Mr P. W. S. Gresson has been appointed to succeed Mr Woodward as assistant manager in Christchurch.
Mr J. M. Davies, managing editor of the “R.S.A. Review’’ since the Second World War. will retire this month. For two years before his appointment he was a member of the advisory committee for the magazine, and for four years before an executive member of the Wellington Returned Services’ Association.
Mr C. F. Hester has been appointed divisional secretary of the Canterbury division of the National Party in succession to Mr F. H. D. Gale, who retired in January. Mr Hester, who has taken up his appointment, was formerly a director and manager of T. Eckford. Ltd., shipowners, of Blenheim. for 12 years. He was president of the Blenheim Chamber of Commerce in 1949 and has also served as a member of the Wairau Harbour Board, the Wairau River Board, and the Marlborough Rugby Union. The Rev. P. J. Munton has been appointed vicar of Pauatahanui. He received his theological training at College House, Christchurch, and, was ordained in 1951. Since'the? he has been a curate at All Saints’,' Palmerston North,, and recently ha§ been chaplain at Linton Military Camp. Mr G. Bruce-Smith, general manager of the Australian Provincial Assurance Association, Ltd., is visiting Christchurch.
