Mr Justice Cooke returned to Wellington last evening after three weeks in Christchurch presiding at sittings of the Supreme Court. Mr Justice Archer will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday to conduct sittings. Mr J. M. Ritchie, of Dunedin, general manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, has been appointed a member of tne Shaw. Savill and Albion Comoany’s .New Zealand advisory board, in place of Mr G. R. Ritchie, who has retired.—(P.A.) Mr John Farrell, representing J. C. Williamson. Alarm Bells in Schools.—ln response to a renewed request from the Shirley Intermediate School Committee, the Canterbury Education Board decided yesterday to advise the committee that it was not the board’s policy to provide schools with alarm bells. -
