AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE

START OF WORK LIKELY THIS YEAR (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 19. It is almost certain that a start will be made with the construction of the Auckland harbour bridge this year. Sir John Allum, chairman of the Harbour Bridge Authority, has advised the Local Government Loans Board by cablegram from England that the bridge can be built to the revised specifications for about £5.000.000. A confirmatory report by engineers is being sent by air mail from England. and should reach Wellington in time for the next meeting of the board on March 30. If the bdard is satisfied with the report, it will formally confirm its decision sanctioning the raising of th* necessary finance.
