BIRCHWOOD HUNT “The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. March 19. Gay Fenian is expected to make a successful first appearance as a steeplechaser in the Gardner Memorial Steeplechase at the Birchwood Hunt meeting at Invercargill tomorrow. He has schooled well over the brush fences at Invercargill, and his success on the flat at Cromwell showed that’ he was near his best. The weather has been fine, and the track will be in good order, with the sting out of it. Red Globe and Indian True have been withdrawn from the Otautau Harness Trot. Doubtful starters are St. Simper (Gardner Memorial Steeplechase), and Royal Pocket and Sivite (J. S. Hazlett Memorial Steeplechase).
