POST-WAR MESSERSCHMITTS.—Germany’s smallest car has been produced by Mr Willy Messerschmitt, once the designer of fighter aircraft for Hitler’s Luftwaffe. Some of the first of the new Messerschmitts are seen in this photograph. Top speed is 40 miles an hour and petrol consumption 125 miles to the gallon. The transparent hood is on hinges and swings sideways to permit access to the two seats, which are placed one behind the other. The engine of the three-wheeled car is air-cooled and situated at the rear.
