CANTERBURY CASH TITLES MEETING AT ENGLISH PARK Canterbury cash championships were decided in perfect conditions at English Park on Saturday evening, but when the heats were held in the morning there was a strong head wind in the front straight. A large attendance saw excellent riding, with close finishes in many of the races. J. Blance, who has just won three New Zealand titles, won the 500 metres event, but failed in the others. O. Duffy rode outstandingly throughout the meeting to win four titles. In the mile race for the Tomson Cup he beat B. Woodgate, who has held the cup lor the last three seasons, Woodgate finishing third. For the third year in succession Duffy won the two-mile Harrison wheel race convincingly from K. Noble (Australia). Woodgate and A. Ayres dead-heated for third place. In the mile pursuit, Duffy established a record in the final, his time being 2min 6 2-ssec. Also ,on the programme were amateur events, in which excellent riding was seen.
